How does MegaTools compress PDFs?
Low and Medium recompress the document losslessly, so text stays selectable and searchable. High and Extreme re-render each page as an image at a lower resolution, which shrinks scan-heavy files dramatically but makes the text non-selectable.
What if my file does not get smaller?
If your PDF is already well optimised, recompressing it can make it larger. When that happens we keep your original file and tell you, so you never end up with something bigger than you started with.
Is my file secure?
Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed on our servers, and then deleted automatically. Uploaded files are never executed.
How long are my files stored?
Files are deleted automatically once the retention window configured by the site operator elapses. The current window is shown in your dashboard.
What is the maximum file size?
You can upload files up to 200 MB. The limit is the same for everyone — every tool is free.
